The INDEX WASARA description
INDEX: Award is the world’s largest monetary prize for design. What sets the INDEX: Award apart from other design awards is its focus on “Design to Improve Life”. INDEX: is looking for designs that target and solve the challenges and problems of human life.
INDEX: Award is split into five categories: Body, Home, Work, Play and Community. One prize worth 100,000 Euros will be presented to the winner in each category. The five categories represent the entire human life, and each category calls for entries from very different design fields.
WASARA is finalist in the Home category.
From September, 2010 to January 6, 2011 anybody have been able to nominate his or her favorite life-improving design for INDEX: Award 2011. All the submitted entries are displayed on the nominations website.
From this pool of nominations an international jury of designers, design scholars and thinkers, business people, and curators will select a group of finalists which will be announced in April 2011. All finalists will later be displayed in the world touring INDEX: Award 2011 Exhibition premiering in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2011.
On September 2, 2011, five winning designs will each receive a 100,000 Euro purse in the Copenhagen opera house, Operaen.
